(Posted by Cathy DuBois) In this next Blog of the series on our search for living in a more conscious way, I uncover the new agenda being pawned off on the workers that, if allowed, will not only cause trauma but many others forms of chaos. Please read my prior Blogs to catch-up with this timely and fascinating discussion.  Since becoming more conscious means that we are noticing how we live, who we can trust, and how we have been effected by our choices, we need to understand this topic more deeply, because if you cannot identify a problem you have no hope of solving it.  So let’s dive in.

   In a recent article “5 Ways to Promote Work Life Integration Among Your Employees” written by Staci Shepherd and posted on Wheniwork.com/blog/work-life-integration for Employers and Managers, I found many reasons to be wary of the hidden agenda.  She uses the work of Bill Gates and Harvard for some of her information.  That alone rings many warning bells for me.  But you need to know about this tripe being foisted upon you, so here is my take on her introduction for her article. Please read all 5 points over the  next few blogs with an open mind before you make any judgments regarding either side of this topic as some overlap and are further explained in another point.

    Introduction:  Work-Life Integration, And Why You Should Care.

   Ms. Shepherd acknowledges that workers and employers have been “balancing” time off  and time on for awhile now and creating a fuzzy line between the two. She finds that this balancing act must become mixed together into “integration” of the two. The worker, it is implied, is the one to make it happen. She argues that workers have always done things like running errands or going to the company gym during work hours and it blended fine. So employers are now justified in taking the next step.

     My answer to this reasoning is that a worker is a human being who has fought for and won the right to only work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week.  It is illegal to work people beyond this without proper compensation and as far as I am aware, it is still the law. Just because an employer or some Think Tank see it as the natural way to proceed is absurd.

    This is also a boundary issue and unless employees hold their management responsible for this encroachment, it will simply glide right on in. Especially in light of the younger workers who have embraced technology as their new god.  They will be the ones who will lose the most in the long run. Seasoned employees need to be the watch guards for this encroachment as they will see it easier.
